- █ Viewing data
-
- As described above, you can use the
- arrow keys to move cells around. When the
- cell position is at the end of a viewing
- screen, if you advance the cell position,
- the screen will automatically shift by one
- column or row such that you can view the
- current cell. The following are some other
- ways to view the data sheet.
-
- Using the keyboard:
- · <Page Up> and <Page Down> will move
- one screen up and down.
-
- · <Shift+PageUp> and <Shift+Page Down>
- will move one screen left and right.
-
- · <Home> will move the screen to the
- beginning of the data sheet (first
- column and first row). <End> will
- move the screen to the end of the
- data sheet (last column and last row).
-
- · <Ctrl+Home> will move the screen to
- the first data column. <Ctrl+End>
- will move the screen to the last data
- column.
-
- · <Shift+Home> will move the screen to
- the first row of current viewing
- column. <Shift+End> will move the
- screen to the last row of viewing
- column.
-
- Using mouse:
- · Click on the <Up> or <Down> arrow
- buttons of the vertical scroll bar to
- move sheet up or down one row. Click
- on the thumb track of the vertical
- scroll bar to move one screen up or
- down. Drag the thumb of the vertical
- scroll bar to move to any row position.
-
- · Click on the <Left> or <Right> arrow
- buttons of the horizontal scroll bar
- to move sheet left or right one
- column. Click on the thumb track of
- the horizontal scroll bar to move one
- screen left or right. Drag the thumb
- of the horizontal scroll bar to move
- to any column position.
-
-
- █ Making a selection of data
-
- A selected block of data is the
- highlighted data block in the data sheet.
- All TechPlot's editing commands are operated
- on selected data blocks. This means that
- you can cut, copy, or paste a block of data
- into or from the Clipboard. There are two
- ways to make a block data selection.
-
- · Choose the Sheet | Select Block command
- to specify the range of selection.
-
- · Use the mouse to click on the starting
- cell and drag it to the last cell.
- When the mouse cursor is outside the
- data sheet area, the data sheet is
- automatically scrolled to make the
- selected area shown in the current
- screen. If you click on a column
- title, the whole column will be
- selected. If you click on a row
- number, the whole row will be
- selected. Click 'ALL' to select
- the entire data sheet.
-
-
- █ Data Input and Output
-
- In this section, we will discuss the
- general data I/O functions of TechPlot's
- data sheet.
-
- There are three ways to enter data in
- the TechPlot data sheet: enter by keyboard,
- load from a disk file, or generate
- automatically by menu commands.
-
- TechPlot can export data to many
- popular spreadsheet data file formats. A
- selected portion of data sheet can be
- printed to dot-matrix or laser printers.
-
-
- █ Inputting data from the keyboard
-
- You can enter data by moving the cursor
- (highlighted cell) to the cell where you
- want and typing a number or label.
- Note: data cells accept only numeric numbers
- but a column name cell takes any ASCII
- characters. As you type, the characters
- appear in the Edit window. Press <Enter>
- or click the OK button (check button) to
- accept the input and the cursor will
- automatically move down one row. Press
- <Esc> or click Cancel button (cross button)
- to abort the action.
